Mayor Peter Feldmann was also involved in the celebrations at the Römer in Frankfurt. That was too much for Sebastian Rode.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Europa League hero Sebastian Rode criticized Frankfurt’s Mayor Peter Feldmann (63/SPD) for his appearance at the Europa League title celebration in the town hall on Thursday.
Feldmann promptly snatched the trophy from Rode and trainer Oliver Glasner when they arrived at the Römer, whereupon the two looked at each other in amazement. In addition, Feldmann then gave a long speech to the fans, in which he listed all the players and those responsible – and clearly had to struggle with the names. He called Makoto Hasebe “Hasabi” and mistakenly referred to CFO Oliver Frankenbach as sports director.
Frankfurt’s mayor felt malice on the net
Feldmann received occasional whistles from the fans and a lot of malice on the net. Rode was also irritated. “I didn’t quite get it. It’s great that he invited us, but it might have been better if he had taken a step back,” he said picture.
Feldmann himself was meek on Friday: “First of all, a big sorry! On Thursday I was more of a Eintracht fan than mayor for a moment.”
