FC Schalke 04 want to get four big earners off the payroll. Sports director Rouven Schröder comments on the state of affairs.
At the second division club Schalke 04, the planned sales of four big earners are gradually moving. “I am a positive person and I assume that we can solve things, also in the interests of the players. We want to draw a line, but we also know that the players have qualities,” said sports director Rouven Schröder in a media discussion.
Specifically, they are Omar Mascarell, Amine Harit, Matija Nastasic and Ozan Kabak. However, the situation with the four actors is quite different. In the case of Kabak and especially Nastasic, however, there are signs of a timely solution. Nastasic is mainly associated with Fiorentina, the Serb is said to be already in agreement with the Serie A club.
Nastasic departure is imminent, question marks for Harit and Mascarell
“At Matija we know that there is interest, we hold talks promptly and look ahead,” said Schröder. Nastasic’s defense colleague Kabak is “definitely in motion”, there are interested parties from Great Britain and Germany.
Schröder was much more reserved about the stand at Mascarell and Harit. Talks were ongoing in both of these cases. But: “You can clearly see the feedback from the consultants, that has become a shorter time frame.”
A possible whereabouts of the players is not planned. “The goals of the players are also different, their transfer plan is a higher level, so it was clear from the start that we would share this path,” said Schröder. With the sales, Schalke mainly wants to lower its salary costs, the quartet was not part of the squad on the first two match days.
