Premier League: Manchester City and Liverpool define the champion tomorrow

In the outcome of the title, the ‘Citizens’ arrive as favourites, with a point advantage and a favorable goal difference (+72 to +66) compared to their pursuer, Liverpool.

Therefore, City depends on itself, and a victory against irregular Aston Villa (14th) at the Ethiad Stadium would be enough for Pep Guardiola’s team to lift the title of English champion for the second consecutive year.

About fifty kilometers away, Liverpool will seek to win at Anfield against Wolverhampton (8th) and wait for a stumble by City that will guarantee them the third title of the season, after the League Cup and the FA Cup.

Although the fight for the title grabs the headlines, the last day saves other duels, with possible script changes.

With Chelsea having already done their homework before closing the season against relegated Watford (19th), it remains to be decided which other London team will accompany City, Liverpool and the ‘Blues’ to the next Champions League.

Tottenham (4th), who visits the already relegated Norwich City (20th), is two points ahead of Arsenal (5th), who will host Everton (16th) at the Emirates, three days after the ‘Toffees’ certified their permanence after beating Crystal Palace on Thursday (3-2).

The ‘Eagles’ (13th) will close the season at home against Manchester United (6th), who will seek to end a disappointing season by ensuring their qualification for the next Europa League.

And it is that the ‘Red Devils’ are pressured by West Ham (7th), which is guaranteed to qualify for the next Conference League at least but, two units behind United, can still dream of winning in Brighton (10th) and rely on a slip from the Manchester red team.

The fight for survival will be starred by Burnley (17th) and Leeds (18th), who face the last date playing relegation to the Championship (second division).

The ‘Clarets’ will close the season at their stadium against Newcastle (12th), one of the most fit teams in the second round. For its part, Leeds can certify its return to the second division just two years after its promotion under the orders of Argentine Marcelo Bielsa.

Both teams arrive with equal points, but the ‘Clarets’ have an advantage in goal difference (-18 vs. -38) that could be decisive.

The men now led by the American Jesse Marsch will look for a victory at Brentford (11th) that could be insufficient to save the category, in a final day with intrigue at all levels.

The 38th date

Arsenal v Everton, Brighton v West Ham, Burnley v Newcastle, Chelsea v Watford, Crystal Palace v Manchester United, Norwich City v Tottenham, Leicester v Southampton, Brentford v Leeds United, Liverpool v Wolverhampton, Manchester City v Aston Villa.
