BVB: Edin Terzić succeeds Marco Rose as coach at Borussia Dortmund

It has now been confirmed by BVB: Edin Terzić follows Marco Rose as coach at Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

Edin Terzić is the new coach of Borussia Dortmund. The Bundesliga team announced this on Monday. The former Beşiktaş and West Ham United assistant manager has signed a contract until the end of the 2024/25 season.

The 39-year-old Terzić worked as an interim coach for BVB last year and won the DFB Cup with the Black and Yellows. Most recently he was technical director at BVB.

BVB sports director promises “a new sporting start”

“By now, many people should be aware of the special importance that BVB has in my life. I would therefore like to thank Aki Watzke, Michael Zorc and Sebastian Kehl for the great trust and the transfer of this great responsibility. Every day we will do everything for the success of the team and the entire club,” Terzić was quoted as saying in the club’s announcement.

The designated BVB sports director Sebastian Kehl spoke of a “sporting new beginning” under the new coach.

Borussia Dortmund surprisingly fired the previous coach Marco Rose last Friday after just one year. “After a season that was unsatisfactory for various reasons, we had to realize that we didn’t get the most out of our opportunities in many areas,” said BVB Managing Director Hans-Joachim “Aki” Watzke. The listed club ended the Bundesliga season in second place and was not able to seriously endanger champions FC Bayern. In the Champions League, the club failed in the preliminary round, in the DFB Cup it was already over in the round of 16.

Shortly after BVB separated from Marco Rose, the Sky TV channel reported that Edin Terzić would take a seat on the coaching bench in the future. The officials have now confirmed the personnel.
