The Upper Austrian Football Association will oppose the Carinthian initiative to nominate a Carinthian regional league relegated if no Carinthian regional league promoted can be found. “In our opinion, this does not coincide with the regulations or with the basic sporting values if the sixteenth could stay in the league while the fifteenth have to be relegated. We will vote no even if it doesn’t directly affect an Upper Austrian club.” , says Upper Austria Association President Gerhard Götschhofer. The Carinthian nomination could be rejected with the votes of Upper Austria and Styria.
Irrespective of this, clubs disadvantaged in the relegation battle, such as FC Wels, would also have the opportunity to lodge a protest with the ÖFB. A lengthy process would then be unavoidable.
