The kick-off of the Champions League final in Paris has been delayed by around 30 minutes. The reason was apparently problems with the admission of the fans. TV images showed supporters without tickets attempting to climb over stadium fences.
The kick-off of the Champions League final this Saturday evening between Real Madrid and Liverpool FC has been significantly delayed after problems with the entrance. The game should start at 9:36 p.m., 36 minutes later than planned, according to the European Football Union UEFA. Previously, the kick-off had been delayed by 15 minutes and then again by 15 minutes. The organizers initially stated security reasons, after which it was said that it was due to the “delayed arrival of fans”.
Numerous Liverpool FC supporters were not in the stands shortly before the originally planned kick-off at 9 p.m. Pictures on social networks sometimes show chaotic scenes at the entrance and long queues around the arena. The Real Madrid fan areas, on the other hand, were well filled.
Fans apparently tried to get into the stadium without tickets
Paris police tweeted in French, English and Spanish that fans should not try to force entry. The AP news agency reported that there had been a number of incidents where fans apparently tried to gain entry without tickets.
The teams came out of the dressing room shortly after 9:00 p.m. and warmed up a second time. The opening ceremony started at 9:23 p.m., accompanied by a loud whistling concert from the supporters.
