What will happen to the Olympic sites after the big sporting event?
Most sports facilities are left to nature.
They decay, rot and at some point only vaguely remember their past splendor.
But there are exceptions – like the Olympic Park in Munich.
In 2016 the Summer Olympic Games were held in Rio de Janeiro.
Now the former sports facility is completely neglected.
For safety reasons, the system has not been operated since the beginning of 2020.
In 1984, Bosnia hosted the Winter Olympics.
The war in Bosnia breaks out just eight years later.
Much was destroyed. Including sports facilities.
Today the former Olympic city counts as a dangerous area.
The reason is still missing anti-personnel mines from the Bosnian war
In 1936 the Olympic Games were held in Berlin.
Today, little reminds of the then beautiful Olympic village, which was built for this purpose in Elstal, northwest of Potsdam.
In 2004 the Olympic Games were held in sunny Athens.
Today there is little to remind us of the once so elegant Olympic village.
The plants were left to nature.
49 years ago Munich became an Olympic city.
The Olympic village was released as living space after the games.
At first nobody wanted to live there and it was neglected.
The Olympic village was renovated from 2009 to 2010.
Today it is one of the most popular “student stalls” in Germany.
