This is the new assistant coach of SV Ried

Most recently, the 34-year-old from Styria worked as an assistant coach at the Vienna Austria Academy. In his active career as a player, Madl has played 280 games in Austria’s top division – including for Austria Wien, Sturm Graz, Wiener Neustadt and Wacker Innsbruck. In addition, gained experience in the second English division at FC Fulham (29 games) and was used once in the Austrian national team.

“We are all very happy that we were able to convince Michael Madl of the path we want to take as a club,” emphasizes SVR head coach Christian Heinle. “Michael Madl fits perfectly into our team, both in terms of sport and personality. He brings a lot of experience as a Bundesliga player and also has an interesting foreign stint in Fulham. He also brings a lot of experience to us from the academy area. We went into great detail in the preliminary talks and were able to establish that we have the same idea of football. We can hardly wait to start the new season together with full force.”

“I had great conversations with Thomas Reicheltshammer, Christian Heinle and Wolfgang Fiala. We all have a very similar view of the football we want to play,” says Michael Madl. “I will be able to take and learn a lot from Christian Heinle and Clemens Zulehner. At the same time, I can use the experience I gained in the Bundesliga here in Ried. My first impression of the club was that everyone thinks in the same direction and pulls together. We have quality in the squad. It’s now our job to get the maximum out of the team and not forget to have fun at the same time. This is the only way to be successful.”
