The agreement was signed in London, where Argentina yesterday beat Italy 3-0 in the “Finalissima”, the definition of the Euro-American Cup, between the champions of South America and Europe.
“The agreement will generate new commercial opportunities for the clubs and the AFA. We welcome the Sports Council of Abu Dhabi as a new commercial partner of AFA. We will work together to make this agreement something transcendent for Argentine and Abu Dhabi football” , said Claudio “Chiqui” Tapia, president of the highest organization of Argentine soccer, according to the AFP news agency.
The general secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, Aref Hamad Al Awani, also gave his opinion on the agreement: “We are honored by this agreement. Argentina is the most popular team in the last 30 years, having legends like Maradona and Messi, as main representatives. It’s an opportunity for all the fans in the Middle East to reach out and support them on their way.”
