FC Schalke 04 lends their offensive player Rabbi Matondo again. As the Royal Blues announced on Monday, the 20-year-old Welshman will join the Belgian club Cercle Bruges. The loan runs for one season, after which Bruges has a purchase option. Matondo’s contract with Schalke runs until 2023.
“When the inquiry came, we quickly agreed with Rabbi and his advisors that a change would be the best solution for everyone involved. We wish him all the best for the coming year, both in sport and in his private life,” said sports director Rouven Schröder as quoted in the press release .
Matondo hapless at Schalke
Matondo moved from Manchester City’s youth department to Schalke in January 2019 for around nine million euros. The lightning-fast outside player could not prevail at Schalke and was already awarded to Stoke City in the previous second half of the season.
In total, Matondo played 32 games for Schalke and scored two goals.
