The 56-year-old Argentine coach will replace Colombian Reinaldo Rueda, who was dismissed after the coffee team did not qualify for the Qatar World Cup.

The Argentine will direct the Colombian soccer team for the South American qualifying round for the Canada, United States, Mexico 2026 World Cup, as well as the different commitments that the team will have to face in the next four years.
The new coach was technical assistant to his compatriot José Pékerman, who led Colombia in the World Cups in Brazil 2014 and Russia 2018.
Previously, he was an assistant for the Argentine team that played in the 2006 World Cup. He was also an assistant for the Deportivo Toluca and Tigres de UANL clubs, both from Mexico.
