Vélez and Patronato sealed a draw at the start of the tournament

The goals were from Lucas Janson for the people from Buenos Aires and from Jonathan Herrera from a penalty for the people from Entre Ríos.

Patronato stood 4-4-2 with fast forwards and lanes, while DT Alexander Medina arranged for his Vélez a formation similar to the one used by Julio Vaccari in the previous tournament, relying on the control of the ball proposed by Perrone and Soñora, added to the fantasy that Orellano generates.

After a few minutes of study, where the ball was lent, Vélez opened the scoring when Orellano stacked rivals on one side of the rival area, gave way behind to Garayalde who put a spectacular pass between the lines to Janson, who had no more to define with precision.

Those led by Facundo Sava were building a good performance and tried with good intentions to reach the goal of Hoyos, while Vélez experienced one of his traditional slumps that has afflicted him for more than a year.

Patronato managed to get Hoyos to participate, taking advantage of the fact that Vélez lent him the ball, until at 38m Diego García stole a ball inside the area, dribbled past a couple of defenders and fell.

The referee, Jorge Baliño, as a first position told him to get up, but minutes later he was called by the VAR, checked the play and charged a penalty in favor of the Paranaenses. Former Independent Jonathan Herrera took the execution, “shot” Hoyos and bent his hands to convert the tie.

In the second half Vélez returned with more enthusiasm. He sought to take control of the ball and from there, get closer to goalkeeper Altamirano, putting Patronato in his field.

But the inaccuracies of the midfielders and forwards of the visiting team prevented him from marking distance, and although Medina began to move the bench looking for freshness and speed, there was no case. Both teams ended up accusing the shortness of the preseason, the lack of time to prepare physically.

So the second half ended up going between bad passes, friction and blows, until Baliño took pity and ended it.

On the next date Patronato will visit Gimnasia (LP) and Vélez will receive Platense, although before that, next Wednesday, they will play with Independiente Rivadavia de Mendoza in San Luis for the 16th final of the Argentine Cup.
