Actually, the model athlete David Svarovsky has no expiry date at all. Nevertheless, the 46-year-old decided to say goodbye to the Upper Austrian league today at SV Zebau Bad Ischl’s home game against Weißkirchen (6.45 p.m.).
“David informed us on Wednesday that he will no longer play in the OÖ-Liga. We need as many hands as possible today to give him the applause he deserves,” said SV Zebau President Josef Zeppetzauer today to numerous support from the ranks. There will generally be a long third half in the game: after all, the new Upper Austrian league champions, Union Weißkirchen, are guests.
But the game will be all about the captain: 29 years ago, in 1993, he made his debut in the first team. For 20 years he led the team as captain and played more than 700 championship games for SV Bad Ischl. Four of the seven league titles in the club’s 97-year history have been shared with the legend with the number 7 shirt. And anyone who knows the thoroughbred athlete knows that we will continue to see him playing on any soccer field in the Salzkammergut in the future. (haha)
