FC Barcelona: Inter Milan and Leicester City probably on Philippe Coutinho

Barca star Philippe Coutinho’s future remains unclear – Inter Milan and Leicester City appear to be interested.

Inter Milan and Leicester City are according to the Spanish Sport interested in signing offensive player Philippe Coutinho from FC Barcelona. The 29-year-old’s high salary could make a possible deal more difficult.

Coutinho is said to earn around 13 million euros net annually – a sum that, according to Barca President Joan Laporta, is “out of date”: “It is difficult to reach agreements with other clubs because the salaries of Barca players are not comparable to those of other clubs are.”

Coutinho is under contract with Barca until 2023

Barcelona would like to loan Coutinho, who is currently still suffering from a tear in the outer meniscus and whose contract is dated until 2023, although it is possible to stay – provided the Brazilian would be willing to adjust his salary.

Inter, with whom Coutinho was already under contract between 2008 and 2013, is hoping for a loan including a purchase option, but despite the tax breaks for foreign professionals in Italy, they will probably not be able to fully raise the princely salary.

The Foxes from Leicester also seem interested, there Coutinho would meet again with coach Brendan Rodgers, with whom he already worked at Liverpool FC. But the former Bayern player would also have to forego part of his salary at the Premier League club.
