FC Barcelona apparently owes Lionel Messi a double-digit million sum after his move to PSG.
Lionel Messi is apparently still entitled to a large amount of money from his former employer FC Barcelona. That reports the Sports world.
Accordingly, Barca still owe the 34-year-old 39 million euros. They are apparently part of the loyalty bonus that Messi negotiated with the club when he last renewed his contract.
Messi doesn’t want to go to court against Barca
Overall, the bonus is said to have had a volume of 72 million euros. Barca paid the first installment in June 2020, and in February this year a further EUR 8.5 million should have flowed to Messi.
It is unlikely that the highly indebted club will be able to raise the remaining amount. Messi will either have to do without it or go to court. Neymar went this way after moving from Barcelona to PSG in 2017.
However, in the course of his near-departure in summer 2020, Messi had said in an interview with Goal and SPOX that he would never go to court against Barca.
