World Ski Association reacts to the allegations of the ÖSV

FIS is confident that the proceedings at the Congress were held in strict accordance with the FIS Statutes and Swiss law, which has been confirmed by legal advisers, FIS said.

“Furthermore, the FIS believes that the allegations made by the four national member federations are completely unfounded,” the broadcast said. Austria’s ski association is taking action against the election of Eliasch together with the associations in Switzerland, Germany and Croatia. “We are concerned with legal certainty in the election procedure – for now and preventively for the future,” said ÖSV General Secretary Christian Scherer.

The plaintiffs in the appeal motion complain that the democratic principles were undermined in the confirmation elections at the 53rd FIS Congress in Milan. The 126 associations would not have had a choice, but could only vote for Eliasch or not for the only candidate anyway. Otherwise the votes were invalid. The 70 votes for the controversial Swede resulted in a result of 100 percent.
