Reitshammer swims an Austrian record at the World Championships

The 28-year-old from Linz qualified on Monday with the sixth best time of 27.12 seconds and undercut his record by 21 hundredths of a second. Reitshammer is hoping for a further improvement in the semifinals on Monday evening and a place in the final on Tuesday.

“I’m very satisfied, the time is awesome. In the afternoon it can go a bit faster, maybe even a 26-time is possible,” said Reitshammer: “With a time like that, you could swim to the final.”

Austria’s swimming star Felix Auböck meanwhile decided not to start over 800 m crawl to be well rested in the fight for the medals over 200 m crawl on Monday evening (6:02 p.m.).

Freestyle specialist Marlene Kahler missed the semi-finals as 21st in the heats over 200 m freestyle. The Olympic participant, who now trains and studies in the USA, swam a time of 2:00.75 minutes. “I’m not that friendly with Budapest, I never swim very well there,” said the 21-year-old.
