Formula 1 in Spielberg: spectator record is in danger

The omission of anti-corona measures and probably Red Bull Racing’s winning streak should have given an additional boost to sales for the event from July 8th to 10th. Only selected categories for Friday and Saturday were bookable on Tuesday lunchtime on the official ticket page; Sunday is currently sold out.

Since a sprint race will be held in Spielberg for the first time on Saturday, July 9th, qualifying will take place on Friday. Those who are still interested in tickets will have to order soon, according to Projekt Spielberg.

As usual, exact pre-sales figures were not disclosed. For the time being, it is not possible to assess whether a new record for the number of viewers could be achieved this year. But that seems entirely possible. The visit on the weekend of 2014, when Formula 1 returned to Austria after a long break, has never been surpassed. Back then, around 220,000 spectators came over three days.
