The 23-year-old from Leverkusen won the Berlin Olympic Stadium with a strong jump of 5.90 meters ahead of defending champion Oleg Zernikel from Landau. The Olympic ninth mastered 5.70 meters. Third place went to Torben Blech from Leverkusen with also 5.70 meters.
