Paul Pogba’s future is still open. Now PSG is said to have thrown the line – and wants to lure the French with a mega salary.
The “new Galaktikos” at Paris Saint-Germain have not yet been on the field together, but PSG should already have the next superstar on the hook. Like the English newspaper Independent reports, Paris wants to secure the services of Paul Pogba in the coming year.
In the summer of 2022, Pogba’s contract with Manchester United expires, which is why the midfielder can then move on free. PSG apparently wants to invest the saved transfer in a princely salary. For example, the Pogba club should submit an offer with a weekly salary of 600,000 euros. PSG did not have to pay a transfer fee for many star players such as Lionel Messi or Sergio Ramos this summer because their contracts had expired.
PSG fans against Pogba commitment
According to media reports, Pogba had already turned down an offer to extend ManUnited’s contract a few weeks ago. PSG were already considered a possible target for Pogba after that, but Messi’s signing changed the situation.
Pogba was born near Paris, but a move would not be so well received by PSG fans. In mid-July, the supporters had put up a banner at the Prinzenparkstadion. It read: “Pogba, you should listen to your mother. She doesn’t want you here – just like us.”
The banner was a reference to an interview with Pogba in 2018: “I’m not tempted to move there. My parents are fans of Olympique Marseille. That’s why Paris doesn’t fit into my plans,” he said at the time Canal+.
However, should Pogba continue this season as they did at the season opener last weekend, the fans might reconsider their opinion. At the 5-1 gala against Leeds United, Pogba excelled with four assists.
