The number one seeded Serb defeated his compatriot Miomir Kecmanovic 6:0,6:3,6:4 in 1:52 hours on Friday and now meets Tim van Rijthoven. The 25-year-old Dutchman only came into the main draw with a wild card and prevailed in the third round against Nikolos Basilashvili from Georgia with 6:4.6:3.6:4. Van Rijthoven had already won the preparatory tournament in ‘s-Hertogenbosch and is unbeaten in eight games on grass.

Djokovic is aiming for his seventh Wimbledon title. He is number one in the world rankings because Daniil Medvedev is missing after the exclusion of Russian tennis professionals because of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine, as is the injured German Alexander Zverev.

Meanwhile, American John Isner secured the record for most aces on the ATP tour.
