It had been clear for a long time: Juventus Turin signed European champions Manuel Locatelli from league rivals Sassuolo.
Italy’s record champions Juventus Turin officially announced the signing of Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo on Wednesday. The Bianconeri initially loan the 23-year-old for two years before Juve is obliged to buy it, depending on the achievement of certain sporting goals.
A special highlight for Juventus: The loan until the end of the 2022/23 season is free. If the purchase obligation applies, Locatelli has to pay 25 million euros, which can be paid in three installments. In addition, up to an additional 12.5 million have to be paid to Sassuolo when further sporting goals are achieved.
With Locatelli: Now five European champions in the Juve squad
With the transfer of Locatelli, Juve now has five European champions in their squad: The midfielder, who recorded the most passes and the most tackles in the previous Serie A season, will meet Federico Bernardeschi, Leonardo Bonucci, Giorgio Chiellini and Federico Chiesa in Turin, with whom he won the title in London in July.
“In addition to his goals, Manuel brings a level that few have,” said the Juve website enthusiastically about the newcomer, who was trained in youth at Atalanta and Milan.
