Suspected of threatening partner in Covilhã named as defendant

A 65-year-old man was accused of threatening his wife with a firearm in the municipality of Covilhã.

In a press release sent to the Lusa agency, the GNR territorial command in Castelo Branco explained that the action was carried out through the territorial post of Caria (Belmonte) and that three firearms were seized.

“As part of the domestic violence case, the Guards found that the suspect carried out threats and verbal and psychological violence with the use of firearms against the victim, his 65-year-old partner,” it is noted.

According to the information, during the investigation it was possible to establish an escalation of violent actions against the victim.

During police investigations, a house search was carried out, which resulted in the seizure of a rifle, a pistol, an air rifle and 22 rounds of ammunition.

The man was made a defendant and the facts were sent to the Covilhã Judicial Court.
