The Court appointed the judge who will intervene for the inheritance of Diego Maradona

On April 3, 2019, Claudia Villafane initiated a legal action claiming the producers of the series and the Maradona “that they exhibit and deliver a copy of the contract for the transfer of rights and all the scripts.”

The request responded to “a preventive action and, subsidiarily, an action to repair damages that was going to be directed, among others, against her ex-husband”who died on November 25, 2020.

Claudia Villafane claimed “the production of anticipated evidence and preliminary proceedings” before the possibility that in the contracts and the content of the series his right to the image would be violated or characteristics of his person would be undermined.

The request raised a conflict of jurisdiction between a civil court of the Federal capital and the Civil and Commercial number 20 of silverwhere the succession of the Argentine soccer star is processed.

The Buenos Aires civil court declared itself incompetent because it understood that Maradona “was a passive subject of the proceedings, and highlighted the existence of contractual obligations emanating from an image rights assignment agreement and the eventual intervention that could be made by the heirs and/or the designated administrator in the succession.”

The Cut gave him the reason, so that the eventual claims of Villafane about the heritage of Maradona will now remain in the hands of the judge of silver that carries out the complex succession of the former footballer.
