Pedro’s move from AS Roma to Lazio is official

Former Barcelona winger Pedro is taking a historic step. He is the first player since 1985 to join Lazio from Roma.

Forward Pedro will play for Lazio in the future. As the club confirmed, the move from AS Roma to their city rivals is perfect.

The two Serie A clubs have not announced anything about the transfer modalities. According to reports, Roma are giving up Pedro on a free transfer in order to save his three million euros annual salary. At the Biancocelesti, he should earn around 2.5 million euros a year.

The former Spain international was no longer part of Roma coach Jose Mourinho’s plans. With his new coach, Maurizio Sarri, the 34-year-old closes the gap on the wings for which Lazio had been looking for reinforcements for weeks.

First move from Roma to Lazio since 1985

Pedro, who is number 9 at the Laziali, is the first player since 1985 to switch from AS to Lazio at professional level. Back then, goalkeeper Astutillo Malgioglio switched sides.

The time span for the step in the opposite direction is significantly shorter: In 2016 Moustapha Seck moved from Lazio to Roma.

Pedro had already played for Chelsea under Sarri in the 2018/19 season before moving to the Giallorossi in 2020. The long-time FC Barcelona player scored six goals and seven assists in 40 games.
