Karim Benzema has extended his contract with Real Madrid until 2023. The Spanish record champions officially announced this on Friday. The French star striker’s previous working paper would have expired in 2022.
A high exit clause is anchored in the working paper: According to various media reports, the fixed fee for the attacker is now one billion euros.
Benzema has been wearing the Los Blancos jersey since 2009, when he came to Madrid from Olympique Lyon for 35 million euros. The 33-year-old is still in the storm center at Real and an absolute key player.

In the league opener against Alaves last weekend, Benzema contributed two goals to the 4-1 win. Last season, the French international scored 30 goals and nine assists in 46 competitive appearances.
