In karate, Alisa Buchinger from Salzburg won the silver medal at these games of non-Olympic sports in Birmingham (Alabama/USA), in the final she was defeated by Silvia Semeraro from Italy. The bronze medal looked out for the rock ‘n’ roll duo Anna Sturm/Matthias Feichtinger from Askö Traun.
“After the 2016 World Cup gold, this is definitely my best and most valuable medal,” said Buchinger. “When I didn’t make it to the Tokyo Olympics, I wanted to give it all up. Thanks to everyone who still believed in me.”
Sturm/Feichtinger, who have been working together since 2013, describe the precious metal in rock ‘n’ roll acrobatics as “a piece of local dance sport history”.
