The derby on Sunday from 6 p.m. in the Wels Hogo Arena is the first real location determination under competitive conditions for the red and white team.
As fifth place in the past season, the team from Wels have set themselves ambitious goals for this year, but the second division team is going into this first-round duel as favorites. The test match results of coach Daniel Madlener’s team weren’t very impressive, but his team played all the games from a demanding preparatory program.
“Wels are definitely interesting opponents,” says Madlener. “In any case, it will be a game in which we can develop a step further.”
The two most recent acquisitions will be there, striker Tobias Pellegrini and central midfielder Noah Bitsche. With Simon Gasperlmair, Amar Hodzic and Philipp Ablinger, the Welsers have three players with SKV past in the squad.
