Messi has just moved to PSG and there is already speculation about his end of career in Miami. There is said to have already been a meeting with Beckham.
Lionel Messi wants to start with Paris Saint-Germain after his end at FC Barcelona. The 34-year-old could possibly end his career in the MLS.
Like the English newspaper Mirror reports, Messi has already met with David Beckham to discuss a possible engagement before retiring in the US. The 46-year-old is the owner of MLS club Inter Miami.
According to the report, an indication of a move to the Beckham club is that Messi has already bought six luxury apartments in the coastal city. It is also possible that the Argentine, like Beckham back then, could buy an MLS franchise after his career.
Co-owner Jorge Mas had already made hints last June that the six-time world footballer could soon play in Florida. “I am optimistic that Messi will play in the Inter Miami shirt because I think he will complete the legacy of the greatest player of our generation and match the ambitions of the Inter Miami owners to build a world-class team,” he said at the time.
Messi wouldn’t be the first star to end his career in the MLS. Franz Beckenbauer, Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, Kaka, Andrea Pirlo, Bastian Schweinsteiger and Pele had already hung up their football boots in the USA.
Lionel Messi: return to Newell’s Old Boys?
In the past, however, “La Pulga” had emphasized several times that they wanted to play again for their youth club Newell’s Old Boys in their home country Argentina. From there he moved to Barcelona in 2000.
Messi had signed with PSG for two years until 2023 in the summer after a contract extension with FC Barcelona failed. He would therefore be free of charge in 2023 at the age of 36. However, Messi reportedly has an option for another season.
