The winning goal for Boca came in the 80th minute thanks to a penalty scored by the experienced Marcos Rojo, after an infraction by the Colombian Rafael Pérez on Darío Benedetto.
As a result of the penalty, Pérez saw the red card and left Talleres with a man less with ten minutes remaining in the match.
The local team also missed a penalty in the sixth minute through a shot by Benedetto that hit the crossbar and went wide.
Earlier, Argentinos Juniors reached the top by beating Barracas Central 3-1 as a visitor with a brace from Fausto Vera and a goal from José Herrera.
The only goal from Barracas for the temporary draw was scored by Neri Bandiera.
Argentinos reached 16 points in the standings and equaled Newell’s Old Boys from Rosario and Atlético Tucumán at the top.
In other matches on Saturday, Newell’s drew goalless away against Racing Club de Avellaneda, the same result that was recorded in the matches between Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata-Colón de Santa Fe and Independiente-Rosario Central.
On Friday, Atlético Tucumán beat Aldosivi de Mar del Plata 1-0, Sarmiento de Junín beat Defense and Justice 2-0, while Arsenal de Sarandí and Platense tied 1-1.
