Robert Lewandowski speaks again about his departure from Bayern. “It was the most difficult decision of my life”says the new FC Barcelona striker “picture”. Even 2026 does not have to be the end for Lewandowski.
Robert Lewandowski has defended the many noises surrounding his move from FC Bayern Munich to FC Barcelona. “It’s been eight wonderful years here. So I hope that with some distance we can forget what has happened in the past few weeks. There were unnecessary things, from both sides”Lewandowski said in the interview. “I know the business, I know what has been said and written. Much was unnecessary, many false rumours.”
Robert Lewandowski: “Maybe certain things had to happen”
Despite the contract until the end of June 2023 in Munich, Lewandowski had pushed for a move to Barcelona this summer. “My story at FC Bayern is over. I realize that the transfer is the best solution for both sides”, the world footballer announced at the end of May. FC Bayern has now sold the 33-year-old to the Spaniards for up to 50 million euros.
“I said that both sides did things that were unnecessary. But maybe certain things had to happen for the change to be possible in the end. I think both sides are happy now. Bayern gets a lot of money, I can go to Barcelona”explained Lewandowski.
Saying goodbye is not easy for the Pole. “It was the most difficult decision of my life. I wanted to live somewhere else, discover something new with my family”explained Lewandowski. “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity.”
Lewandowski is said to have signed a contract for up to four years in Barcelona. “I know I’ll be 34 soon. But I feel very strong physically and mentally. Barcelona saw it the same way”said the striker. “I don’t know how things will continue after that, but even 2026 doesn’t have to be the end. I want to play at the top level for many years to come.”
