Less stress, more fun playing LASK

LASK would have preferred to be on the ball in the European Cup for the fifth time in a row. Coach Dietmar Kühbauer takes the positive view of the situation before the Bundesliga kick-off at home against Klagenfurt on Saturday: “Basically we want to play internationally, but the extra workload is gone now. It’s much easier to control the training.”

But other difficulties arose in the preparation. “Sometimes I only had 14 professionals in training,” said the 51-year-old. Departures, injuries and late commitments had led to the small group. The additions give him confidence: after Nemanja Celic, Filip Stojkovic, Efthymios Koulouris and Marin Ljubicic, Robert Zulj managed a real transfer coup. The new Raiffeisen Arena on the Gugl should be another euphoric spark. The prospect of playing there from spring “can be helpful,” said Kühbauer. “Everyone wants to play in a nice stadium and we want to fill the stadium with good performances.”

Until then, however, it is important to convince with strong performances in Pasching. The way you play will change. Kühbauer: “We certainly don’t play with permanent pressing anymore. Of course there will still be pressing, but not like in the past.”
