After 158 days, the punishment came: Estádio do Dragão was punished with two games of ban by the Disciplinary Board of the Portuguese Football Federation due to incidents that took place on the pitch in a game by FC Porto Sporting (2:2 for the League). ), February 11 of this year.
If the penalty imposed now was not subject to appeal, Porto would have to play at home on loan the first two matches of the championship: in the 1st round with Maritimo and in the 3rd with Sporting. But none of this should happen.
As in similar situations with other clubs, the penalty may be delayed. For this, Porto will have to apply to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAD). Since the decision of this body will not be made in a timely manner, the blue-whites must submit a precautionary measure, the adoption of which suspends the penalty. However, lawyers contacted by CM argue that the fact that Matheus Reis (Sporting’s player) was acquitted of the aggression charges he was accused of exacerbates Porto’s guilt, and this situation could eliminate arguments in in favor of recognition of the injunction.
In addition to the SAD ban, Porto FC was also required to pay €25,245. João Paulo Vieira de Souza (Porto’s security coordinator) was fined €1,350, while Ricardo Vasconcelos Carvalho (field director) and Carlos Alves Carvalho (security director) each paid €918. The three participants in blue vests (game organization) involved in the incidents were punished with 75 days of suspension and fined 3,060 euros.
After the game, Pepe (Porto) and Tabata (Sporting) were suspended preventively, served two games of suspension, and then were punished with 23 days of suspension.
Rui Costa suspended
Ricardo Santos, the driver of Rui Costa, was suspended for 17 days and fined 2870 euros CD FPF for violating articles 136 and 112 of the League’s Disciplinary Regulations (damage to honor and reputation and defamatory denunciation). The facts came after Sporting’s victory over Benfica (2:1) in the League Cup final on 29 January. In the same context, Luizao (Benfica manager) and Hugo Viana (Sporting manager) have already been punished.
