The Public Security Police (PSP) detained a couple aged 32 and 35 for robbing an elderly man on a public road in the center of Agua de Pau district on the island of São Miguel in the Azores.
According to the PSP statement, the couple approached the victim and, using force and a razor, threatened her and demanded that all “her goods” be handed over. Faced with resistance from the victim, one of the defendants ended up hitting her in the eye and breaking one of her teeth, as a result of which he stole five euros from her. The victim had to be hospitalized.
“Both defendants are accused of committing a number of crimes committed recently in this locality,” the authorities explain.
After being interrogated in the court of Ponta Delgada, both defendants were subjected to coercive measures in the form of periodic representations and mandatory drug treatment.
