Mathys Tel signs a contract with FC Bayern Munich until the summer of 2027 on Tuesday. According to media reports, the German series champion transferred a transfer fee of 20 million euros to Stade Rennes for the 17-year-old Frenchman. Bonuses could add another 8.5 million euros.
“Mathys Tel is one of the greatest talents in Europe, a very fast, technically strong and versatile striker,” says Bayern’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic about the new signing.
Tel only turned 17 on April 27. He played in ten competitive games for the French first division team last season. When he made his league debut in August 2021, he became the youngest player in Stade Rennes history at 16 years and 110 days – previously held by Eduardo Camavinga.
After Sadio Mané (Liverpool FC), Matthijs de Ligt (Juventus Turin) as well as Noussair Mazraoui and Ryan Gravenberch (both Ajax Amsterdam), Tel is the fifth new signing from Munich this summer. ÖFB kicker Konrad Laimer (RB Leipzig) is another candidate.
