Fenerbahce, owned by Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus, was eliminated this Wednesday in the second qualifying round of the Football Champions League after losing 2-1 at home to Ukraine’s Dynamo Kyiv in extra time.
In Istanbul, after a failed first leg, Buyalsky put Dynamo Kyiv ahead in the 57th minute, while Fenerbahce already had one point less when Yukshek was sent off in the 53rd minute.
With Portugal’s Crespo (released in the 63rd minute) and Bruma (77th) as substitutes, Jesus’ team decided to go into extra time thanks to a well-aimed strike from Hungarian center Salai in the 89th minute after a corner from Brazilian Lincoln, a former Santa player – Clara.
Earlier, in the 70th minute, Fenerbahce missed a penalty kick from the Ecuadorian striker of Valencia.
In extra time, Karavaev decided the draw in the 114th minute and left Jesus out of the “champions”, which was one of the main goals set by the Turkish club when he officially announced the hiring of the Portuguese coach.
Fenerbahce are relegated to the Europa League, while Dynamo Kyiv will play Austrian Sturm Graz in the third qualifying round of the Champions League Path.
