Groups agreed and Independent will hold elections on October 2

The deepening of an increasingly chaotic situation from the institutional, economic and sports levels reached its peak last Friday, when an assembly of partners led to a pitched battle at the company headquarters, with a balance of 48 detainees, 15 police officers injured, at least two broken patrol cars and numerous damaged public furniture. To make matters worse, as a result of the excesses, the match with Atlético Tucumán, for the 10th date of the Professional League, had to be moved from Saturday to last Sunday and transferred, by decision of the Aprevide, to the Platense field.

The truth is that the vote can be carried out after a long journey. It was planned at the end of last year, but the Electoral Board challenged the Traditional Independent Group for alleged bureaucratic irregularities in its papers. However, the ruling that the Lomas de Zamora Court of Appeals revoked a few weeks ago enabled Fabián Doman’s list to be part of the vote, a reason that led to the resumption of the electoral process that had been paralyzed.

The meeting began yesterday shortly after 7:00 p.m., when four members of the Board and the representatives and attorneys-in-fact of each of the groups that are part of the three lists that are in the running for the elections entered. Néstor Vidal was present, for the Independent Association, a space that brings together the ruling party; Claudio Rudecindo and Rodrigo Gadano, for Gente de Independiente; and Maximiliano Walker and Fernando Sciacaluga, for the Independent Unit. Two of the members of the organization were not present: Alejandro Vilariño, who resigned on Tuesday at noon, and Eduardo Rubio, who did not attend for health reasons.

“Our assumption is that this delay has to do with the closing of a balance that we are going to see with many magnifying glasses. It is what we will inherit. Thanks to God and to the partners and to the partners there are elections in Independiente. I tell the fans to come and vote, to do it en masse,” said Doman, candidate for president for the Independent Unit. Taking into account that on the chosen date the Red will play as a visitor against Arsenal, the journalist maintained that it was a device so that fewer people are part of the vote. “It’s something that’s not going to happen,” he added. For his part, Juan Marconi, vice-presidential candidate for the same list, made it clear that “it is not what we wanted” but that “we should be happy because it is not little”.

After this very important step, now the groups will meet again next Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. to define lists, register (in principle there are about 55,000 eligible members) and the electoral schedule. A small symbol of peace.
