Filip Misolic won the semi-final at the Generali Open, which was broken off in the tie-break of the third set on Friday, and continued his sensational run in Kitzbühel. The 20-year-old from Styria, who is celebrating his ATP Tour premiere in Tyrol, defeated ex-Kitzbühel finalist Yannick Hanfmann (GER) 6:2.2:6.7:6(4). Shortly afterwards he was even allowed to fight for the title at the ATP 250 tournament against the number 3 seeded Spaniard Roberto Bautista Agut on Saturday.
The day before, Misolic was behind Dominic Thiem in the quarter-finals with two breaks 1: 4 in the third set. He has thus successfully completed the second race to catch up en suite. In the quarter-finals, also on Friday, he had won in three sets against the Serb Dusan Lajovic after being down 2:6,3:5.
The 20-year-old Misolic from Graz had already secured an improvement to around 135th place before the final. This means that as of Monday he is the best Austrian in the world rankings. If he also wins against Bautista Agut, then he scratches the top 100 as 105th.
