LASK improves on the defensive: The Bundesliga soccer team could already present Hungary’s team defender Akos Kecskes as an access – if all the formalities of the four-year contract have been clarified.
The 26-year-old has canceled the contract with his previous club Nizhny Novgorod, which means that no fee is due for LASK. From the summer of 2021, Kecskes, 1.90 meters tall, had been with the Russian first division team. At the start of the new season, he was still in the starting XI against Lok Moscow (1-1) on July 17, but he hasn’t played since then – because he wanted to leave Russia and was looking for a club. LASK and Kecskes found each other: Because the central defense is currently thinner due to the injury to Philipp Wiesinger, LASK attacked, and the six-time Hungarian team player also gained experience in defensive midfield.
Kecskes moved to Atalanta Bergamo at the age of 18, but he only played in friendlies with the professionals. After loans to Ujpest Budapest and to Poland to Termalica Nieciecza and Kielce, he signed for Lugano in 2018, followed three years later by a transfer to Nizhny Novgorod. He was on the ball with Hungary’s U20s at the 2015 World Cup and was called up to the senior national team for the first time in 2020. He was not used in the 2021 European Championship finals.
