Polo: Aldolfo Cambiaso will share a team with his son “Poroto”

On the centenary of the Argentine Polo Association (AAP), the Triple Crown will begin on September 27 with the 82nd Tortugas Open; It will continue from October 11 with the 129th Hurlingham Open and will live its great date from November 1 with the 129th Argentine Polo Open.

Adolfo Cambiaso, 47 years old, about to complete 28 consecutive seasons with the maximum handicap (10), will go for his fifth Triple Crown after winning it with Ellerstina in 1994 and another three times with La Dolfina (2013, 2014 and 2015).

The polo player from Cañuelas, top scorer in Palermo with 1,026 goals in 117 games, was crowned 17 times in the Argentine Open and is located three times behind the historical record of Juan Carlos Harriott (j), emblematic player of Coronel Suárez in the decades of the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s.

La Natividad, winner at Hurlingham and Palermo in 2021, will maintain the same line-up; RS Murus Sanctus will merge with La Ensenada; Ellerstina will have the return of Nicolás Pieres and La Irenita will present three teams, according to AAP sources told Télam.

The teams that will compete in the Triple Crown will be the following:

La Natividad: Camilo Castagnola 10, Pablo Pieres 10, Bartolomé Castagnola (h) 10 and Ignatius du Plessis 9. Total: 39 handicap.

La Dolfina Saudi: Adolfo Cambiaso (h) 10, David Stirling (h) 10, Adolfo Cambiaso (n) 9 and Juan Martín Nero 10. Total: 39.

Ellerstina: Facundo Pieres 10, Hilario Ulloa 9, Gonzalo Pieres (m) 9 and Nicolás Pieres 10. Total: 38.

La Irenita: Juan Britos (m) 9, Francisco Elizalde 9, Pablo Mac Donough 10 and Juan M. Zubía 8. Total: 36.

RS Murus Sanctus La Ensenada: Facundo Sola 8, Alfredo Bigatti 9, Guillermo Caset (m) 9 and Jerónimo del Carril 8. Total: 34.

La Dolfina II: Guillermo Terrera (h) 9, Tomás Panelo 8, Diego Cavanagh 8 and Alejo Taranco 8. Total: 33.

La Irenita II: Facundo Fernández Llorente 8, Tomás Fernández Llorente (h) 7, Bautista Bayugar 8 and Isidro Strada 8. Total: 30.

La Irenita III: Segundo Bocchino 7, Santiago Loza 8, Martín Podestá (h) 7 and Felipe Dabas 7. Total: 29.
