On October 23rd, the 20th anniversary of the Oberbank Linz Donau Marathon will be celebrated in Linz. And many students and firefighters also have an eventful day.
The “fire brigade is running” campaign has been an important part of the running spectacle for many years. In order to support the groups from Upper Austria even better and thus offer more equal opportunities, this year not only the fastest fire brigade will be awarded, but there are also lucrative prizes for the fire brigade with the most participants (as a percentage of the members) and the district with the most participants in Upper Austria. For the 20th anniversary, the relay marathon was included in the “Fire Brigade Runs” campaign for the first time.
The group campaign “School is running” is just as popular every year. Upper Austria’s pupils and teachers from elementary schools, secondary schools, grammar schools, vocational schools – or apprentices in training – and from higher vocational and general schools are eligible to start. Participation for students is free except for the chip rental fee, with five starters the teacher is also free. There is also a high-quality T-shirt from the company Banner Batteries and prizes from the Starmovie cinemas for the fastest, but also for the most participants in a school.
Under the motto “Do something good for yourself”, the Linz Donau Marathon 2022 is again all about women. Together with the women’s department of the state of Upper Austria, the Oberbank has set itself the goal of getting as many female runners as possible to start with the “Women runs” initiative. 50 Eurothermen wellness boxes worth 50 euros each will then be raffled off among all of them.
