Portuguese canoeists Fernando Pimenta and Teresa Portela won the silver medal in the K2 500m mixed doubles at the World Cup in Canada this Sunday, finishing second in the race.
Competing on track three, Pimenta and Portela finished the race in 01:39:79, behind gold-winning Australian duo Jackson Collins and Alyssa Bull in 01:39:48, while Germany’s Tobias Schultz and Caroline Arft took bronze. entry 01/39/81.
At the World Championships, the Portuguese duo won gold in this non-Olympic competition.
At these World Championships, Pimenta already had a silver in the K1 1000m and a bronze in the K1 500, and is now short of the 5000m, a distance that won him silver in 2021 and that will end Portugal’s participation in Halifax.
Teresa Portela was sixth in the K1 200m and 10th in the K1 500.
Thus, Portugal has four medals in these World Championships as Fernando Pimenta already has two, namely silver in K1 1000m and bronze in K1 500, while Norberto Mourau was bronze in the adapted VL2 class.
