For the third time in the club’s history, SV Bögl Hohenzell was promoted to the district league in June this year – as the youngest team in the league. During the (quite short) summer break, the team “rejuvenated” itself through a few transfers, but that could be an advantage for HSV this season. “Perhaps the young lads don’t worry too much. At least I hope so. It’s important that we learn to deal with defeats properly again. That probably makes the biggest difference compared to last season,” says coach Werner Sickinger (small photo). .
Right at the start (all game dates in the article on the left), SV Hohenzell welcomes Schwanenstadt 08, a co-favorite for the title. Not an easy task, but the coach is optimistic. “Basically, we’re the underdogs in almost every game. In the end, that might even help us.” In any case, the one who cannot help at the start is Christian Seyfried, who will probably be out for six months with a torn cruciate ligament. Captain Johannes Murauer is also not quite fit yet, but he should return to the field in the course of the autumn championship.
Speaking of pitch: Werner Sickinger is already looking forward to the football pitches that SV Hohenzell will get to know in the new league this season. Even if he would have preferred the West District League. “Of course, we miss out on exciting derbies with a correspondingly large number of spectators. But that also has its good side, because in the district league south, which I consider to be extremely strong, the pressure is perhaps not that great. In any case, we will do our best to assert ourselves,” says Sickinger.
(Almost) all fit
Karl Osterkorn is also sending an extremely young team into the 2nd class West-North race. He has been training with Union Enzenkirchen since the winter and initially had his hands full getting the boys fit. “At the beginning they were rather rough together, but it’s getting nice and slow. They train hard, are willing and ready to work hard,” says the coach. In any case, the results of the last preparatory games (including a 6-1 win against Kopfing) were promising. Karl Osterkorn had to do without a few players due to vacation. The team should be complete again by the first home game against Eggerding (Sunday, 4 p.m.) – apart from Andreas Demelbauer, who tore his cruciate ligament in the last friendly and will be out for a long time. Other than that, the team is fit and ready.
Luckily, because with Eggerding an opponent not to be underestimated is waiting for Enzenkirchen, which has declared a good midfield position as a declared goal of the season. For the time being, however, the coach wants one thing above all: not to lose against Eggerding. “It’s going to be difficult enough because it’s a strong and mature side. They’re probably superior to us but we’ll do our best to resist.” What is Karl Osterkorn looking forward to regardless of the result? “When all the players are finally back, it starts and we play for points.”
