On the evening of Deadline Day and thus in the last hours of the summer transfer window, Antoine Griezmann made a spectacular change. The 30-year-old attacker is returning to Atletico Madrid from FC Barcelona, initially on loan to the Rojiblancos for one season.
As Barca officially announced, Atletico will take on Griezmann’s entire salary for the coming season. After the loan expires, according to the Catalans, a purchase obligation applies, while Atletico speaks of a bilateral option to extend the loan. According to media reports, Atletico would have to transfer 40 million euros to Barcelona in order to sign the world champion.

Griezmann’s contract with Barca is dated until 2024. In 2019, he moved from Atleti to Blaugrana for 120 million euros, but was never able to meet the high expectations.
