The 25-year-old running back gained a good 21 yards with three attempts shortly before the end of Friday night and thus played his part in the 23:21 victory over the New England Patriots.
After the game, Head Coach Brian Daboll praised Platzgummer, who is once again hoping for a place in the 53-man squad with the Giants, during the dressing room speech. With his longest run, he gained 15 yards of space. The Tyrolean had already caused a stir last year with a 48-yard run in a preseason game against the New York Jets, but at the time it wasn’t enough for a regular spot with the Giants.
Platzgummer joined the NFL two years ago through the league’s International Pathway Program and has spent the past two seasons in the Giants’ practice squad.
