BVB has strengthened its defense center with Marin Pongracic. However, Dortmund are also said to have dealt with Barca’s Oscar Mingueza.
On the deadline day, Borussia Dortmund signed Marin Pongracic from VfL Wolfsburg. With Oscar Mingueza, BVB apparently also had a defensive man from FC Barcelona on the list. Ultimately, however, a transfer failed.
Like the Spanish radio station Catalunya Radio reported, there should have been a request from Dortmund for the 22-year-old. Accordingly, BVB wanted to borrow the central defender for a year and secure a purchase option. However, Barca coach Ronald Koeman is said to have rejected an offer.
BVB held Pongracic instead of Mingueza
Under the Dutchman, Mingueza made the breakthrough to the professionals and played a total of 39 competitive games last season. In the summer, the debut for the Spanish senior team and participation in the Olympics followed. His contract with the Catalans runs until 2023.
Instead of Mingueza, Dortmund finally signed Wolfsburg’s Pongracic. The 23-year-old also comes to the black and yellow on loan. Then BVB has a purchase option, which is reportedly twelve million euros. Pongracic knows Dortmund’s coach Marco Rose from their time together at RB Salzburg.
