Sebastian Michetschläger was most looking forward to a bed at the finish in Sankt Georgen im Attergau on Saturday afternoon. Before that, the cyclist from Münzkirchen had to get his very first doping control through after his sensational victory in the “Race Around Austria”. A premiere before that was his participation in the extreme distance. In exactly three days and 18 hours, the 38-year-old father arrived as the winner.
Actually, Michetschläger would not have started at all, but was persuaded to start by Austria’s parade ultra driver Christoph Strasser and trainer Markus Kinzlbauer. As in 2018, the men from CLR Sauwald secured the Austrian team championship title in two days, twelve hours and 23 minutes. Justyna Sieber won the women’s race (five days, 15 hours, 26 minutes). The German Florenz Knauer won the 24th ASVÖ Hrinkow City-Kriter in Steyr.
