Benjamin Mendy is due to appear before a court in Chester, England, starting this week. The allegations against the French soccer world champion are shocking.
The 28-year-old is charged with eight counts of rape, sexual assault and one case of attempted rape. The Manchester City suspended defender pleaded not guilty.
According to reports from the English “Guardian”, the incidents are said to have taken place in so-called “panic rooms” (a lockable room where an owner can get to safety in the event of intruders) at his property in Mottram St Andrew near Macclesfield. With Mendy, a 41-year-old accomplice has to answer in court, who, according to the public prosecutor, should have led the women to the football professional. A total of 13 women are complaining.
The presumption of innocence applies to Mendy, who became world champion with France in 2018, and his accomplices. From August 2021 to early January 2022, the football professional was in custody in England.
