Joachim Löw was the coach of the German national team for 15 years. Once celebrated assistant coach of Jürgen Klinsmann – and alleged architect behind the national coach at the time – experienced ups and downs in the course of his career. In 2014 he brought home the most coveted football title with “The Team”: the World Cup.
Many said that Löw taught German football team spirit and the game with finesse and wit. It stood for beautiful football. But the crisis came in 2018. After the historic preliminary round against South Korea as the reigning world champion, the calls for his resignation became loud.
But one thing is clear: Joachim Löw has accompanied an entire generation as national coach. In his place is his former assistant coach Hansi Flick, with whom he became world champion.
