The strike announced by the National Union of Railway Workers (SNTSF) in CP – Comboios de Portugal is expected to cause traffic disruptions this Sunday.
As SNTSF leader Abilio Carvalho told Lusa, the strike should cause unrest in the CP on Monday’s public holiday, “which can be felt the day before, on Sunday evening, because at that time there are workers who start their shift.”
Comboios de Portugal warned Friday of “service disruptions” on Monday, August 15, a national holiday, pointing to the possibility of delays and interruptions in train traffic “due to the strike”.
In a note posted on the site, CP does not mention whether there are minimum services.
The National Union of Railway Workers (SNTSF) called for a strike for overtime, weekend work and public holiday work this month, indicating that workers should use it to “express their dissatisfaction and demand respect for their work.” wage”.
A source at SNTSF told Lusa that the reason for the strike is a 0.9% pay rise, which the union considers insufficient given the inflation recorded in recent months, as well as a shortage of workers in the company.
According to Abilio Carvalho, there is “almost an imposition” on the part of the Communist Party, according to which “workers should almost necessarily resort to overtime work.”
In a statement released on Friday, CP clarifies that “customers who have already purchased a ticket to travel on the Alfa Pendular, Intercidades, Interregional and Regional trains will be allowed a refund of the total amount of the purchased ticket or a free reissue to another train of the same category. and the same class.
